Minister: Russian Post thriving, CEO Strashnov effective
MOSCOW, Feb 14 (PRIME) -- Russian Post is developing energetically and its CEO Dmitry Strashnov works efficiently, communications minister Nikolai Nikiforov told PRIME on Tuesday.
“We will be unable to reach the figures in the strategy fully if we do not convert (Russian Post) into a joint-stock company. Is Strashnov guilty that the State Duma (parliament’s lower chamber) did not approve the conversion law? I do not think that Strashnov is to blame. In general, we think that the company is developing energetically,” Nikiforov said.
Last week the government ordered the ministry to continue working on a draft law on corporatization of Russian Post so that parliament may study it in 2017. A government source told PRIME earlier that Strashnov could quit his post before contract termination on July 1 and a new CEO will face the challenge of making the national post service a public company and even privatizing it.
